Training ROI Calculator

If you didn’t measure it, it didn’t happen. Enter what a training programme costs and the benefits you measured or expect, and see the ROI, benefit-cost ratio and payback period.

Calculate ROI
Programme costs (₹)
Measured annual benefits (₹)
Calculate ROI
—Return on investment (ROI)
—Benefit-cost ratio
—Payback period
How it’s calculated

The standard ROI formula

  • Total cost = fees + logistics + participants’ time (participants × hours × hourly cost)
  • ROI % = (benefits − cost) ÷ cost × 100
  • Benefit-cost ratio = benefits ÷ cost
  • Payback = cost ÷ monthly benefit

The result is only as good as the benefit figure. Use benefits you can attribute to the training, for example through a baseline before training and a measurement after.

Prove it properly

Measurement, designed in from day one

Our Impact Assurance approach sets the baseline and success metrics before training starts. In one roll-out, assessment scores rose 171% and 98% of supervisors confirmed the change on the job.

Beyond the free tool

A quick ROI sum vs. a VATS impact assessment

This calculator is only as good as the benefit figure you enter. In a consulting assignment, the hard part, and the part we do, is proving that benefit was caused by the training and not by something else.

Arithmetic on your estimates

  • Benefits you estimate yourself
  • No baseline or comparison
  • Training’s effect not isolated
  • A single point in time
In a VATS consulting assignment

Impact you can defend to the CFO

  • Success metrics agreed before training, linked to business KPIs
  • Pre-training baselines from your own performance data
  • Pre- and post-assessments, with statistical analysis of the change
  • Supervisor and 360° feedback months later, to confirm on-the-job behaviour change
  • Isolating training’s effect using comparison groups, trend analysis and stakeholder estimates
  • Variance and median movement, not just averages, to show change across the whole team
How we’d approach it

Our impact assessment method

01

Set the baseline

Agree metrics and capture the “before” picture from real data.

02

Measure learning

Pre- and post-assessments show what participants actually gained.

03

Confirm behaviour

Supervisor surveys and reinforcement check that change stuck on the job.

04

Prove business impact

Compare against the baseline, isolate training’s effect and report ROI.

See this method in practice: across six plants, assessment scores rose 171% and, 6–8 months later, 98% of supervisors confirmed improvement on the job. Read the case study →
